Kaziranga National Park lies in two districts – Golaghat and Nagaon of state of Assam. Kaziranga is one among the oldest park covering an area of 430 sq. km. it also covers Brahmaputra on the North and Karbi Anglong Hills on the South. Kaziranga National park is widely famous for one-horned rhinoceroses as well as for other mammals including tigers, elephants, panthers, bears and thousands of bird species.
Kaziranga National Park is a World Heritage Site.Kaziranga National Park is a preferred location to see Rhinos in their natural habitat. Indian Rhino is also known as one horned rhino or Great Indian One Horned Rhinoceros.The park also provides shelter to 1,666 Wild Asiatic Water Buffalo and 468 Eastern Swamp Deer. In the year 2006, Kaziranga National park was declared as a Tiger Reserve of India with highest density of tigers in the world.
Other species which live in Kaziranga are Jungle cat, fishing cat leopard cats, rare hispid hare, Indian gray mongoose, small Indian mongoose, large Indian civet, small Indian civets, Bengal fox, sloth bear, Chinese pangolin, golden jackal, hog badger, Chinese ferret badgers and parti-coloured flying squirrels.
